ADRA has recently appointed Siri Bjerkan Karlsson as the new director for the ADRA office in Sweden.

ADRA has recently appointed Siri Bjerkan Karlsson as the new director for the ADRA office in Sweden.

Karlsson, a native of Norway, brings broad cultural experience having volunteered in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Uganda with various education and health projects, as well as having lived in Ethiopia, Lebanon, and the United States. Karlson has a Masters in Public Health.

“Karlsson has only been with us for a short time, and has already shown us the initiative that it takes to achieve the goals of ADRA Sweden,” says Raafat Kamal, regional director for ADRA’s Trans-Europe office. “We feel confident in the work that she is doing, and we look forward to the many promising years ahead.”

In her new position, Karlsson will oversee logistics and manage project activities for ADRA Sweden, implementing initiatives to help alleviate poverty in about countries worldwide. Her responsibilities include promoting ADRA in the media, expanding ADRA’s marketing and development initiatives, building capacity directives, and raising gender and environmental awareness in the community.

“Having grown up in developing countries,” said Karlsson, “it gives me great satisfaction to know that I can be part of helping at least 700,000 people a year get a better life,” she finished.
